Testimonial:

"It was a blessing to have spent time with you.  Your true encouragement and affirmation of us in ministry, marriage, life, future, etc, was like a divine appointment. You are gifted, and with us you really hit the nail on the head.  What you suggested is what we had been "dreaming" about.  Being in a more difficult place does take its toll on us.  I felt totally worn out this past term, and your conversation, support and suggestions were right on!!! We were so blessed by being with you." ~ Coached Couple

Debriefing:Transitioning back to one’s home culture is significantly challenging even when expatriate clients are planning to return to their cross-cultural assignment after a home leave. Debriefing sessions offer expatriate clients the opportunity to talk in a safe environment about relevant concerns from their time of working abroad and give them a place to explore how they wish to shape the next chapter of their lives. Marilyn’s experience in living in various cultures as well as her training as a professional counsellor helps her listen with understanding and ask insightful questions that help her clients process their experience in new ways. Sessions typically last about 3 hours. Additional sessions can be booked as necessary. Following the debriefing clients may elect to explore ways to enhance personal, relational or professional growth and success through coaching sessions or choose to work through difficult issues in a counselling relationship.

Home Leave Debriefing:

In cases where the debriefing occurs at the beginning of a home leave, Marilyn will help individuals work through difficult experiences from their time abroad, celebrate positive ones and explore ways to come to a place of personal strength before returning for the next assignment.

Home Stay Debriefing:

In cases where expatriates are transitioning from an overseas assignment to a permanent or longer stay in their homeland, Marilyn helps individuals process their experience overseas, observe how they have changed as a result of their experiences, and explore how they can move forward effectively, utilizing the strengths they have acquired from their exposure to other cultures and new ways of thinking. Individuals, especially those who are transitioning permanently back to their homeland, may find that following a debriefing, regular sessions with a coach will help them envision the next chapter of their lives more effectively and with confidence. These sessions can take place in person, phone or Skype.
